Hareline Teal Flank Feathers
Hareline Teal Flank Feathers are feathers from the flank of teal, recognised by their distinct black-and-white barring. They form contrasting wings, cheeks, tails, wing cases and other details on wet flies, nymphs and streamers. The natural transverse bars create a clear decorative pattern without complex segmentation. Individual feathers can be tied singly or as a matched pair, depending on the width and symmetry required for the fly component. Their fine, patterned fibres are useful wherever a fly needs a defined accent along the wing or side.
Construction and use
Remove the softer basal fibres and align the tips when forming a wing or cheek. Select feathers by the width of the usable section, fibre length and regularity of the bars. When building a two-sided component, choose feathers with a similar marking so the finished pattern remains balanced.
