Hareline Woolly Bugger Saddle Hackle 6-7
Hareline Woolly Bugger Saddle Hackle 6-7 consists of long rooster saddle hackle feathers intended primarily for Woolly Bugger flies. Wrapped around the body, the feather creates a full, mobile collar and the characteristic profile of the pattern. It can also be used for streamer wings and other freshwater or saltwater flies. The long saddle-feather form allows a selected section of the body to be wrapped without repeatedly joining short pieces. Select feathers by collar width, fibre length and wing proportions.
Construction and use
Strip the basal fibres before tying and check the natural alignment of the tips. Plan the wrap direction so the fibres follow the intended fly profile. Choose a feather that matches the required collar or wing width. Store the material carefully to preserve the delicate fibres.
