Hedron Saltwater Mirage
Hedron Saltwater Mirage is synthetic fly-tying fibre for reflective elements in larger, active streamer patterns. Its surface produces an opalescent, colour-shifting reflection: the visible tone and flash change as light reaches it from different angles. This effect can form a noticeable accent within a baitfish profile while still allowing the tier to control the amount of material used.
Construction and use
Use it in streamer wings, backs, tails and lateral lines. Select small portions, secure them tightly on the hook shank and build layers when a fuller profile is required. Blending Saltwater Mirage with more subdued fibres creates contrast between the reflective layer and the rest of the pattern. After tying in, taper or trim the ends to keep the fly’s silhouette slim and controlled.
- Effect: an opalescent reflection that shifts with the angle of the light.
- Profile: build layers for a streamer wing, back, tail or lateral line.
- Tying: work with small bundles and secure them firmly with thread.
- Finishing: taper or trim the fibres to match the shape of the fly.
