HMH Shank Adapter

HMH Shank Adapter is a purpose-designed holder for straight shanks, including those used in articulated fly construction. The body clamps directly into the jaws of a fly-tying vise, while the adapter secures straight shanks with a diameter greater than 0.035 in (0.89 mm). This provides a practical way to work on components that lack the hook bend normally used to help position and secure a hook in conventional vise jaws.

The adapter can also hold plastic or metal tubes up to 3/32 in (2.38 mm) in diameter. Two pins are included to stiffen softer plastic tubes while thread and materials are being wrapped. This additional function allows the same compact tool to support both straight shanks and selected fly tubes, without replacing the existing vise with a separate model dedicated solely to tube flies.
