Loon Classic Mitten Scissor Clamps
Loon Classic Mitten Scissor Clamps combine a fishing clamp with integrated scissors for common streamside jobs, including holding a hook while unhooking a fish and cutting leader or tippet material. The mitten-style design dispenses with conventional finger loops. Instead, the handles open and close with successive squeezing actions, making the tool easier to operate when cold-weather gloves or mittens limit finger movement.
The tool is made from surgical-quality stainless steel and has locking handles. Loon’s yellow Comfy Grip coating adds tackiness for more secure control when the handles or the angler’s hands are wet. Built-in scissors reduce the need to reach for a separate cutting tool during a fly change, while the eye-clearing needle can remove varnish, adhesive or debris that prevents tippet from passing through a hook eye.
At 6 inches (15.2 cm) long, the clamp offers useful reach without becoming cumbersome on a vest or pack. Its closed mechanism allows it to be clipped to a suitable attachment point for accessible carrying. After fishing, rinse it with fresh water, dry it thoroughly and store it away from persistent damp, paying particular attention to the joint, cutting edges and locking mechanism.
