Loon Deep Soft Weight

Loon Deep Soft Weight is a reusable, lead-free putty for adding weight to a fly-fishing leader or tippet. Made with non-toxic tungsten, it can be shaped by hand so the amount of weight suits the current, required fishing depth and size of fly. The container holds 25 grams.

Form a small piece around the leader and adjust its position to fine-tune the presentation. It can also be placed immediately in front of the fly to provide weight in a similar position to a bead head. The putty holds most securely when moulded over a knot. Unlike split shot, it does not crimp the tippet, while its soft profile is less likely to lodge between rocks. Remove it from the leader when the fishing session is over.

Using and caring for the weighting putty

• Malleable tungsten putty with no lead
• Amount can be adjusted for current speed and fishing depth
• Reusable material can be removed and reshaped
• In cold weather, keep the container close to the body to maintain pliability
• On hot days, cool the closed container in the stream to firm the putty
