Loon Razor Scissor 5
Loon Razor Scissor 5 is a pair of fly-tying scissors with an overall length of 5″ (12.7 cm), featuring straight stainless-steel blades that are hand-honed in the USA. Its defining layout combines one smooth cutting edge with one serrated edge. The serrations hold hair, feathers and synthetic materials as the blades close, reducing their tendency to slip between the edges, while the smooth blade supports an even cut line. Slim, tapered tips make it easier to reach material close to the hook shank and remove individual fibres with control.
A knurled knob at the pivot allows the blade pressure to be adjusted rather than leaving the cutting action at one fixed setting. The resistance can be matched to fine thread, soft feathers or a fuller bunch of hair, and the tension can also be corrected as the tool is used. The 5″ format provides a longer cutting stroke for preparing larger sections of material while retaining the precision required for finishing a fly. Classic finger-ring handles have a powder-coated grip, giving the fingers a stable contact surface during cutting.
