No-Fry Wing Material
Hareline No-Fray Wing Material is a thin, cuttable sheet for matched caddis and hopper wings. Its cut edge holds together without fraying, while the visible sparkle adds an optical accent to the finished fly. One large piece can provide a pair of wings with matching shape, angle and length.
Construction and use
Prepare a paper template or mark the outline on the sheet, then cut a matched pair. Place the two wings together and align them before tying them in. Set the intended wing angle and use only enough thread pressure to hold the sheet securely; excessive wraps can distort a thin wing. A wing burner may optionally be used to shape the edge when that method suits the pattern. Careful matching and symmetrical trimming help reduce the helicopter effect that wide or uneven wings can cause during casting.
