Parachute CDC Red Quill

Parachute CDC Red Quill is a mayfly dry fly for trout and grayling feeding near the surface. The parachute version, with CDC feathers from around the preen gland, is well suited during hatches when fish are taking individual insects from glides, slower runs and quieter edges of the current.

Present it delicately and fish it on a dead drift, keeping the line from affecting the fly’s path. Choose sizes #12–14 for larger mayflies, and #16–18 when fish are taking smaller insects. Barbless hook.
