Renzetti Dubbing Twister
Renzetti Dubbing Twister is a classic hand-operated tool for twisting a conventional loop made from tying thread. Its brass handle has a hexagonal cross-section, providing flat gripping surfaces and helping prevent the tool from rolling across the tying bench. A small shepherd’s-crook hook at the working end engages the bottom of the loop. The weight of the brass helps keep the thread strands under tension while dubbing fibres are positioned between them.
Once the material has been placed in the loop, the entire tool is rotated between the fingers. This twists the two legs of thread around the fibres to form a compact dubbing rope, ready to be wrapped along the hook shank when building a fly body or thorax. Direct manual operation lets the tier control the amount of twist and pause to inspect the distribution of the material. This is the single-purpose twister model and does not include the teasing needle fitted to a different Renzetti tool.
