Rio Mainstream Fly Line Lemon Green
RIO Mainstream WF-F Lemon Green is a family of floating fly lines designed for everyday fishing at normal casting ranges. Its shorter head and shaped taper help the rod load earlier, making its response easier to feel and allowing the cast to develop without carrying an unnecessarily long length of line in the air. This character supports anglers who are developing their casting technique, while remaining useful for anyone seeking a straightforward line for regular fishing.
Profile and fishing use
The family contains two distinctly different profiles. In the WF version, more of the working mass is concentrated towards the front of the line. This helps load the rod at ordinary fishing distances, control the loop and manage the transition from the head into the thinner running line. It is a practical arrangement for anglers who want to reduce unnecessary false casting and concentrate on making a repeatable presentation of the fly.
The DT option uses a double-taper profile, with a taper at either end and a fuller middle section. Its mass distribution is more symmetrical than that of a WF line, encouraging measured line control and presentation at short to medium range. The inclusion of both profiles enables anglers to choose the handling style that suits their casting approach while retaining the same floating-line character.
A supple, self-lubricating coating is intended to remain low-memory in cold water. Reduced coiling helps the line straighten, move through the rod rings and maintain more direct contact with the fishing setup. This becomes particularly noticeable at the start of a session in cool conditions, when a stiffer line would be more inclined to retain the shape of the reel and require repeated straightening.
- Type: floating fly line.
- WF range: weights 4–8.
- DT range: weights 3–6.
- Colour: lemon green.
The lemon-green finish makes the line easy to follow on the surface and helps the angler monitor its path during both casting and line control. Mainstream combines a clear, manageable profile with performance directed towards normal fishing ranges: there is no need to hold a very long loop in the air, while the shorter head helps bring the rod into play sooner. The result is an approachable family for those learning line control as well as more experienced anglers who prefer predictable, unhurried handling from their floating line.
