Rio Premier StreamerTip Fly Line
RIO Premier Streamer Tip is a fly line with a short, 10 ft sinking tip, developed for fishing streamers from a boat. It combines a floating section with an S6 tip, allowing the fly to work below the surface without the handling characteristics of a fully sinking line. Its short, heavy head loads the rod at close range and supports a prompt, committed delivery with fewer false casts. This profile suits mobile fishing in which successive lies are covered from a drifting boat or from positions held only briefly.
Profile and fishing use
The aggressive, powerful front taper is configured to carry substantial streamer rigs, including conehead muddlers and bunny leech patterns. Concentrating mass towards the front helps the leader turn over and gives a larger fly the momentum needed to complete the cast. This is particularly useful when changing direction quickly, covering banks and structure, or presenting into successive lanes where there is little time to prepare. The short sinking tip takes the streamer beneath the surface, while the floating section assists with managing the remainder of the line. It is a sink-tip design rather than a fully sinking line or a separate shooting head used with a shooting line.
- Configuration: floating WF line with a 10 ft S6 sinking tip.
- Family range: designations from WF5F/S6 to WF8F/S6.
- Profile: short, heavy head and aggressive front taper for large streamers.
- Finish: SlickCast, DualTone, EasyID and welded loops at both ends.
DualTone marks the line’s loading point with a clear colour change, helping the angler set a consistent amount of line outside the rod before making the next cast. The printed EasyID marking allows the model to be identified without relying solely on its spool or packaging. A welded front loop makes it quicker to change a leader or rig, while the rear loop provides a straightforward connection to backing. The SlickCast coating is intended to reduce friction through the guides and improve the durability of the line’s surface. Together, these features serve anglers fishing larger streamers from a boat who require quick rod loading, authoritative turnover and the handling control provided by a floating line combined with a short sinking tip.
