Sage Mod Fly Rod
Sage MOD belongs to the generation introduced for the 2016 season. Its defining concept combined a moderate action with Sage’s proprietary Konnetic Technology blank platform. The family encompassed single-handed presentation rods and two-handed MOD Spey designs, carrying a similarly deep-loading character across distinct styles of fly fishing.
The shared quality throughout the series is a smooth, measured transfer of energy during the cast. Its moderate action allows the blank to load clearly under the fly line and encourages an unhurried casting rhythm. MOD was developed around presentation control and accuracy at practical fishing distances. Within the single-handed branch this addressed contemporary trout fishing, while MOD Spey extended the concept into two-handed techniques.
Construction and series character
Every version was based on a blank made with Konnetic Technology. Sage associated this material platform with low mass, strength, responsiveness and the stability required for accurate casting. In MOD, the technology was combined with a moderate action so that the load develops progressively and the caster receives a distinct impression of the line working through the blank.
The rods were designed and handcrafted on Bainbridge Island in Washington State. A jade-coloured blank provided a common visual identity. This restrained green finish distinguished MOD within the Sage range of the period and linked its single-handed and two-handed forms as one recognisable design family.
MOD suits a caster who values a fluid cadence and makes deliberate use of blank flex. The action gives the loop time to develop and transfers energy to the line in a controlled manner, supporting fishing in which accurate fly presentation is central. Across the family, Sage applied this design direction to conventional single-handed casting as well as Spey methods.
