Sage Trout LL Fly Rod
Sage Trout LL is a medium-action trout rod family developed primarily for dry-fly fishing. Introduced in 2019, the series was conceived as a modern continuation of the admired Sage Light Line tradition. Its classically influenced casting character is combined with a blank built using KonneticHD technology.
The family was shaped around delicate, precise presentation. Trout LL is intended for wading and fishing both smaller and larger rivers, particularly where the approach involves closer casts, small flies and fine tippets. The breadth of the range allowed anglers to select a rod for intimate water or more open trout rivers while retaining the same underlying style of blank response.
Construction and series character
A relatively supple tip helps cushion the load placed on fine tippet. As the blank bends, the flex passes smoothly into a mid-section that loads without demanding an abrupt casting stroke. This gives the angler clear feedback from the fly line throughout the cast and encourages a measured, unhurried tempo.
The progressive character brings more of the blank into play as additional line is carried or the casting stroke is lengthened. An optimised taper and KonneticHD blank material support loop control and accurate presentation. Medium action, smooth loading and readily felt feedback therefore remain defining qualities across the Trout LL family.
The finish draws on the appearance of earlier Sage trout rods. The mahogany-coloured blank carries bronze thread wraps with gold accents. Fuji ceramic stripping guides are paired with hard-chromed snake guides and tip-top. The reel seat combines a walnut insert with bronze up-locking hardware. Each rod was supplied with a tan cloth bag and a brown, powder-coated aluminium tube bearing a Sage medallion.
