Spirit River Antron Dubbing
Spirit River Antron Dubbing is a versatile synthetic material for fly bodies that need a noticeable but controlled presence in the water. Its fibres retain their colour when wet and give off a lively sheen, making the blend useful for both restrained imitations and patterns designed to attract attention. Air can remain caught between the fibres, an especially useful feature when building nymph bodies with a little extra visual depth.
Construction and use
Use it for nymph bodies, emerger thoraxes and dry-fly bodies. Antron can be applied directly to the thread and formed into a neat, compact shape, or left slightly open for a softer-looking surface. Work with small pinches rather than one large bundle; the material twists more predictably this way and the finished body keeps its shine without becoming unnecessarily bulky.
- Wet appearance: The colour remains stable when wet, while the synthetic fibres provide a subtle reflective effect.
- Nymph bodies: Trapped air between the fibres can add visual fullness and depth to the thorax or abdomen.
- Fly styles: Suitable for nymphs, emergers and dry flies.
- Handling: Add it in small portions to the thread, then brush lightly if a less compact surface is wanted.
