Spirit River Crosscut Rabbit 1/4 Hide
Spirit River 1/4 Hide Crosscut is a quarter rabbit hide cut crosswise into strips for wrapping around the hook shank. This format builds a fuller, mobile collar or body because the hair sweeps toward the rear as the strip is wrapped.
Construction and use
Select a section suited to the circumference of the body and clear the hair from the hide at the tie-in point. Tie in the beginning hide-first, then wrap the strip with even tension while controlling the overlap of each turn. Secure the end with several thread wraps and clear the hair from the finishing point again for a neat transition.
- Form: quarter rabbit hide cut into strips.
- Cut: crosscut, across the direction of the hair.
- Technique: wrapping around the hook shank with the fibres sweeping rearward.
