Spirit River Fly Flex Body 1/4 in. (6 mm)

Spirit River Fly Flex Body 1/4 in. (6 mm) is a flexible, flat open-woven body strip with a metallic finish. It builds bodies for freshwater and saltwater flies: lay it over a smooth underbody or wrap it around a prepared body to create a lightly open, reflective surface that follows the form beneath it.

Construction and use

Select the strip with the finished underbody width and the desired body profile in mind. Cut a section with enough material for both tie-in points, and smooth the underbody so it presents a clean surface. Fly Flex Body can be laid along the hook shank or wrapped in turns; control the tension to keep the width even and the edges orderly. The open weave allows the colour and shape of the underbody to contribute to the finished appearance. Secure each end with firm thread wraps, then trim away the excess. It suits abdomens, streamer bodies and other slim or gently flattened fly profiles where a flexible, metallic body surface is useful.
