Spirit River Frosted Yarn
Spirit River Frosted Yarn is a continuous yarn with long, translucent nylon fibres radiating from a twisted core. It forms soft, mobile bodies for leech patterns, streamers, buggers and saltwater flies. The fibres add volume around the hook shank, while the textured reflective surface gives the finished body additional visual structure and movement in the water.
Construction and use
Tie in the yarn by its prepared end and wind it along the shank, controlling the spacing between turns to set the body profile. Sweep the long fibres back before each wrap so they remain distributed around the body rather than being trapped beneath the following turn. Close turns produce a fuller body; more open turns leave greater separation between the fibres. Secure the yarn near the eye, then shape the outline by trimming only the fibres that extend beyond the intended profile.
- Form: twisted yarn with long, translucent nylon fibres radiating from its core.
- Finish: a textured reflective surface with fibres that remain mobile around the body.
- Uses: leech patterns, buggers, streamers and saltwater fly patterns.
- Technique: tie in by the core, wind continuously, and sweep the fibres back before each turn.
