Spirit River Possum Plus

Spirit River Possum Plus combines mottled Australian opossum fur with Antron to produce a lively dubbing with natural barring, richer colour and a restrained sparkle. The fur keeps the body from looking overly uniform, while the Antron adds a subtle translucent quality to the blend. It is a useful choice when a fly needs more character than a smooth, single-fibre body but less flash than a strongly reflective material.

Construction and use

Use it for nymphs and wet flies, from neat, tapered bodies to fuller thoraxes and abdomens. Apply small portions to the thread and build the shape in controlled turns; once the body is formed, tease out a few fibres with a dubbing needle or brush if you want a slightly more animated surface without losing the mottled appearance.
