Stonfo FlyLab Leva Base Vise

Stonfo FlyLab Leva Base Vise is a complete fly-tying vise distinguished by lever-operated hook clamping and a set of 3 interchangeable hardened-steel jaws. The small, medium and large jaws provide suitable contact for hooks from size 28 to 4/0, allowing the same workstation to handle small flies, standard nymph and dry-fly patterns, and larger streamers. Once the clamping force has been set with the adjustment screw, the rear lever opens and closes the jaws quickly. This is particularly useful when tying a sequence of patterns on hooks of similar wire diameter, as the mechanism does not need to be readjusted for every hook.

The head offers stepless angle adjustment and 360° rotation, helping you reach a selected part of the hook, inspect proportions from different sides or turn the pattern while applying adhesive or varnish. Adjustable friction lets you match the resistance to the task. The head can rotate freely, engage more distinctly at 0° and 180°, or be locked in the chosen position. The vise may be installed on the freestanding pedestal base, which has recesses for hooks and beads, or secured to the edge of a stable worktop with the supplied C-clamp. Both mounting options are included: the pedestal makes the workstation easy to move or reposition, while the clamp is a practical choice for a more permanent bench setup.

Before tying, select the smallest jaw that holds the chosen hook securely while leaving enough working room around the shank. Seat the hook in the functional gripping area rather than at the extreme tips, then increase the pressure only until a firm hold is achieved. A gentle pull should confirm that the hook cannot slide or turn in the jaws. Readjust the clamping force when moving to substantially thinner or heavier wire, and release the lever before changing jaws. The spring material clip temporarily keeps thread, hackle or other materials clear of the work area. An Allen key is supplied for head and mounting adjustments, together with the instruction manual. The compact, lightweight construction also makes the vise convenient to store between tying sessions.
