Stonfo Hackle Plier Long Spring
Stonfo Hackle Plier Long Spring is the long-spring version of Stonfo’s model 462 revolving hackle pliers. Its construction allows successive wraps to be made without repeatedly repositioning the tool in the fingers. Variant no. 2 is distinguished by a long stainless-steel spring that flexes during use and cushions sudden changes in tension applied to the tying material.
The rubberised jaw tip grips the feather stem, while the revolving head follows the movement around the hook shank. This helps reduce additional twisting at the gripping point and supports a smooth, continuous winding action. Compared with the short-spring version of this model, the long spring provides a softer, more flexible response that is useful when handling delicate hackle. A finger ring gives direct control over the direction and pace of each wrap.
