Stonfo Kaiman Vise

Stonfo Kaiman Vise is distinguished by a lever-operated jaw mechanism designed to make hook insertion and replacement especially quick. Squeezing the shaped lever opens the jaws; releasing it locks the hook firmly in place. The hardened-steel jaws cover sizes 28 to 5/0 without requiring the clamping force to be reset for each hook. This makes the Kaiman useful for repeated tying on small hooks as well as for workflows that involve frequent changes between markedly different wire diameters. A dedicated recess in the jaw profile provides secure seating for larger hooks.

The head rotates through 360° on dual precision ball bearings. A large, double-diameter handwheel gives controlled rotation when you need to inspect the far side of a fly, check proportions or gain clearer access for the next tying step. Rotational resistance is adjustable: an intermediate setting provides distinct positions at 0° and 180°, while further tightening locks the head in the selected position. Both the head angle and stem height can also be adjusted, allowing the hook position to suit your seating position, tool length and the space required by the materials. The operating lever can be moved to accommodate either right- or left-handed tying.

Stonfo Kaiman Vise is particularly well suited to work where hooks are changed frequently and repeated jaw adjustment would interrupt the tying sequence. Before starting, set the lever side, stem height, head angle and rotational resistance, then give the secured hook a light stability check. Fine hooks should not be clamped at the extreme tips of the jaws; hold enough of the shank to ensure a secure grip while keeping the tying area accessible. Larger hooks should be placed in the recess provided for them. The vise is supplied on a freestanding pedestal base, so it does not need to be attached to the edge of a table. A spring material clip, Allen keys and an instruction manual are also included.
