Stonfo Regular Bobbin
Stonfo Regular Bobbin is a conventional, standard-format bobbin holder intended for everyday fly-tying work. Two spring arms retain the spool and create resistance as the thread unwinds, without a separate slider or disc-drag mechanism. This keeps the construction straightforward, with working tension determined by correct spool fit and the pressure applied by the arms.
The stainless-steel thread tube is fitted with special bushes that help reduce friction and thread fraying as the working angle changes. A shaped, dish-like section at the base of the tube provides a defined resting point for the thumb and forefinger. It supports controlled rotation, even thread wraps and secure handling when the bobbin is left hanging under tension while materials are tied in or a fly head is formed.
Seat the spool centrally between the arm tips and check that it turns smoothly without excessive side play. If the resistance is too light or too firm, make only a small, even adjustment to both arms. The thread should leave the spool in a straight line towards the tube. A separate Stonfo bobbin threader can be used to draw it through the thread channel.
