Stonfo Thread Splitter

Stonfo Thread Splitter is a precision tool for separating fine multifilament tying threads when preparing a split-thread dubbing loop. Its central groove aligns the tensioned thread with a very fine point, removing the need to locate the centre of the thread by eye alone. A spring-loaded mechanism drives the point between the fibres, making it easier to create an opening for dubbing.

Place the thread in the groove, hold it under tension and press the plunger to separate the fibres. Dubbing or selected fibres can then be inserted into the opening before the thread is spun as required by the pattern. This is a split-thread method, not the formation of a separate conventional loop with a dubbing twister. It helps limit additional bulk, which is especially useful on small flies. The tool is intended for multifilament threads whose construction allows the fibres to be separated.
