Stonfo Transformer Vise
Stonfo Transformer Vise is a complete modular fly-tying vise that combines three working configurations on one stem and a stable pedestal base. Its quick-coupling mechanism lets you exchange the head without dismantling the tying station. The set includes an in-line head for conventional hook-mounted flies, a straight head that provides open access when dressing streamers, and a dedicated tube-fly module. Two interchangeable hardened-steel jaws are supplied: a profile intended for small and medium flies and a larger profile suited to streamers and larger hooks. The tube module comes with three tapered pins and two cylindrical pins. This arrangement makes it practical to move between different types of dressing without installing separate vises.
The stainless-steel shaft turns through 360° on two precision ball bearings. With the in-line head fitted, its angle can be adjusted until the hook shank lies directly on the rotational axis. This provides genuine true-rotary operation for evenly winding ribbing, bodies and other materials, as well as inspecting proportions from every side. Rotary resistance is adjustable, the head can be stopped at any chosen position, and the shaft has a rapid locking system at 45° intervals. Stem height can be set to suit the bench and tying posture, while the vise can also be reversed for left-handed use.
The hook jaws use a smooth lever-operated closure. For a secure setup, open the lever first, place the hook bend sufficiently far into the jaws and adjust the preload screw only until the hook is held in position. Then close the lever without excessive force and avoid clamping a hook at the extreme tips of the jaws. Before tying, set the working height, align the shank with the rotary axis when using the in-line head, and adjust the rotation tension to match the intended technique. The pedestal keeps the vise steady and incorporates a tool rack plus recessed areas for small components. Supplied accessories also include a rounded bobbin cradle, a pivoting thread cradle, parachute pliers, an adjustable spring material clip, Allen keys and operating instructions.
