Sybai Body Stretch 4mm

Sybai Body Stretch 4mm is an elastic flat strip for making wing cases, nymph backs and wound bodies. Its stretch allows the tier to control the coverage over the underbody; changing the tension also changes how broad and thin the strip lies during tying.

Construction and use

Cut a working length and tie it in at the rear of the fly, leaving the free end to be stretched over the shaped body. Pull it towards the eye with even tension, then secure it with several thread wraps. A rib can be added in the opposite direction to define segmentation and hold the strip in place. Use less tension for broader coverage and more tension when fitting the material to a slender body. Finish the front tie-in neatly before trimming the waste.
