Sybai Fine Stretch 6.0 mm (Latex)

Sybai Fine Stretch 6.0 mm (Latex) is a flat, elastic latex strip for forming nymph backs, wing cases and continuous segmented bodies. Its 6.0 mm nominal width covers a larger underbody in one piece, while tension changes the strip’s apparent width and thickness during tying. It suits scuds, larvae and other flies that call for a pulled-over, smoothly finished back.

Construction and use

Cut a suitable length and tie the strip in at the rear of the body, leaving enough material to stretch over the shaped underbody. Pull it forward with moderate, even tension; greater stretch makes the strip narrower and produces finer segments. For a wing case, secure it at the head, trim the waste and add ribbing in the opposite direction if a stronger division is required. Do not treat it as adhesive-backed material: it is secured with thread.
