Sybai Foam Cylinders 2.8 mm

Sybai Foam Cylinders 2.8 mm are plain foam cylindrical stock with a nominal 2.8 mm diameter, intended for cutting and shaping small fly components. The material can be prepared as a small ant abdomen, an extended body or an upright parachute post. Diameter helps match the component to hook scale, while the buoyancy of the finished fly is also affected by its hook, dressing and other materials.

Construction and use

Cut the required length with sharp scissors or a knife, then shape the ends if needed. For a post, position the material upright; for an extended body, match its length to the pattern. Secure it with broad, controlled thread wraps rather than concentrated pressure that could compress or cut the foam. A thread base or foam-compatible adhesive may add stability when useful. In a parachute post, the hackle is wound around the upright material.
