Sybai Jungle Cock Substitute - Blue is a flexible, pre-cut synthetic cheek with a blue Jungle Cock-style print. It is a ready-made fly component intended to be tied to the side of a head, body or wing case. Its ready-cut outline makes accurate placement and a balanced pair of cheeks easier.

Construction and use

Choose a piece in proportion to the hook and the fly being tied, then decide where its tip should finish. Place it against the side of the fly and secure the root with a few light thread wraps. Once the angle and height are correct, add firmer wraps, working from the root towards the front. Position the second cheek as a mirror image. Any material extending beyond the tie-in point can be trimmed before applying the final head finish. Keep the thread pressure controlled so the flexible component is not distorted.
