Sybai Sheet Soft Foam
Sybai Sheet Soft Foam is soft closed-cell foam in sheet form. It is cut into strips and shapes for terrestrial bodies, streamer backs and underbodies beneath thicker dry-fly bodies. Thickness affects the profile and the amount of buoyant material in the component.
Construction and use
Choose 2 mm for a slimmer component and 3 mm when a fuller profile is required. Cut the sheet with scissors, a sharp knife, a punch or a matching cutter; trim or lightly sand the edges when shaping calls for it. Tie the strip down with controlled, broad thread wraps to reduce the risk of cutting the foam. A thread base or compatible adhesive may help stabilise the component where appropriate. The closed-cell structure helps limit water uptake, but the flotation of a complete fly also depends on its hook, eyes and the weight of the other materials.
