Textreme Wool Blend
Textreme Wool Blend is a continuous, carded blend of wool fibres with rainbow Angelina fibres. Its loose structure makes it easy to pull out small portions for streamer bodies, wings, tails and lateral accents. The material can also be cut with scissors into shorter fibres and used as dubbing. It is handled as a loose fibre blend, so the selected amount should be arranged and secured with thread during tying rather than treated as a finished braid or brush.
Construction and use
Pull a small amount from the continuous carded layer, separate it with your fingers and adjust the length to the pattern. When tying a wing or tail, work with small bundles to retain softness and avoid unnecessary bulk. For dubbing, cut the fibres to the desired length, blend them and twist them onto the thread or apply them to wax.
- Streamer body – cut short sections and layer them to form a soft, full profile.
- Wing and tail – select a small bundle, secure it firmly and taper the ends.
- Dubbing – trim the material with scissors so the shorter fibres twist easily onto the thread.
- Lateral accent – add a thin layer when a subtle variation along the fly’s profile is needed.
