Uni Mylar Flat Tinsel #16 (0.5 mm)
Uni Mylar #16 (0.5 mm) is a flat, two-colour tinsel with a reflective surface for finer fly construction. Its high stretch helps the material conform to the hook shank and allows close, orderly turns. It can be used as a rib to define segmentation or as the material for an entire body. The 0.5 mm width is especially useful on small flies, while larger patterns can also benefit when a narrower body layer is required. Colour combinations include red/green, gold/silver, copper/blue and pearl.
Construction and use
The tinsel adds flash and a clear two-colour effect without adding weight to the fly. Its stretch makes it easier to wrap over a thread underbody and follow minor changes in the body shape. Control both tension and overlap as you work; at this width, even small gaps can become noticeable. Secure the finished end with tying thread before trimming it from the fly.
