Uni Nylon 70 Flat
Uni Nylon 70 Flat is the thinner flat nylon option for tying small and medium flies. The ribbon-like thread lies close to the hook shank, keeping the build controlled while allowing the tier to shape bodies and heads with a clean profile. It has sufficient strength for securing stiff deer hair when a dependable foundation is required. For split-thread dubbing, separate the thread, insert the dubbing between the strands, and twist it back together with the bobbin. Maintain consistent tension during wraps and watch the thread’s twist so it continues to spread rather than forming an unintended cord.
Construction and use
This version is useful when the fly calls for economical material build-up in small or medium dry, wet, and nymph patterns. The white thread offers a neutral base and can be coloured with a felt-tip pen for a closer match to the pattern.
