Uni Soft Wire ME 0.27 mm
Uni Soft Wire ME 0.27 mm is very soft, round fly-tying wire in the medium Soft Wire size. It is easy to shape and lies closely against the hook shank or the body material. Use it as ribbing on classic flies, as the material for a complete body, or as a base for direct dubbing on wire. It can also be used to make a dubbing brush and is suitable for chironomid imitations and Mosquito-style flies. Each spool contains 10 grams of material, regardless of wire size.
Construction and use
The medium size offers a relatively fine profile while retaining the easy handling associated with very soft Soft Wire. According to the manufacturer, it is non-tarnishing and wraps more easily than UNI-French wire. For a clean rib, guide the wire under steady tension over a prepared base and keep the turns even. When dubbing directly onto the wire, spread the fibres along it before wrapping. Secure the finishing point with thread before cutting away the excess.
