Veevus Stomach Thread
Veevus Stomach Thread combines the characteristics of floss and tying thread, giving it several roles in fly construction. It can be used for bodies, tags, tails, hot spots, wings and heads. Its construction allows the tier to change the way it works by twisting it: tighten the twist for a more compact form, or loosen it when broader coverage is required. The thread can also be split so a dubbing-type material can be inserted between its strands and secured as part of the pattern. Work steadily and watch the direction of the twist, particularly when finishing short sections or shaping a neat head.
Construction and use
Stomach Thread is a versatile material for forming distinct, coloured elements on a fly. Used as tying thread, it secures materials; used as floss, it can be wrapped to create a body or another smooth section of the pattern. Splitting the thread also supports techniques in which material is placed inside it, rather than simply tied on top. Choose the amount of twist according to the width and density required for the element you are building.
