Wapsi Crab Coins

Wapsi Crab Coins are pre-cut adhesive discs that form a base for crab-fly bodies. Each disc can be applied to the hook or to a shaped body section, while light-coloured versions can be marked with a waterproof marker to add the desired shell-back details and segmentation.

Construction and use

Select the disc size to suit the hook and the intended fly profile. Remove the backing, align the disc symmetrically with the hook shank, and press it into place. Add legs, claws, eyes and any other details required by the pattern. The disc provides the foundation for the crab body, so plan the thread work and additional components around the attachment points rather than covering them unnecessarily. Its pre-cut shape keeps preparation quick at the vise.
