Wapsi Deer Hock
Wapsi Deer Hock is a hair patch containing shorter, firmer deer hock hair. The fibres have natural variation in length and colour, allowing the tier to select compact bundles or individual hairs for small, controlled fly components.
Construction and use
Separate the material without compressing it excessively so the range of fibre lengths remains available. Remove the underfur, then either level the selected bundle partly or retain its natural taper. The firmer hair holds its shape after securing and is useful for compact heads, wings, tails, legs and other small details.
