Wapsi Duck Wing Quills, 2 Pairs
Wapsi Duck Quill. 2 Pair contains two pairs of natural duck flight feathers for forming fly wings. Their orderly barbs allow the tier to separate even slips and match them into a balanced pair. The material is particularly well suited to traditional wet- and dry-fly wings.
Construction and use
Select slips of similar width and curvature from opposite vanes, then pair them to suit the proportions of the pattern. A quill can also supply a selected section of vane or individual barbs. Firmer areas help a wing retain a clearly defined profile, while finer sections suit slimmer details. Align the bases of both slips before tying them in and control the thread tension so the wing remains upright on the hook shank.
