Wapsi Dumbbell Eyes Plated
Wapsi Dumbbell Eyes Plated are plated lead dumbbell eyes for crosswise tying on the hook shank. They combine concentrated ballast at the fly head with a metallic surface that reflects light and adds a defined detail to streamer construction.
Construction and use
Position the eyes crosswise on the shank and secure them with firm figure-eight thread wraps around the central connector. Finish the tying before building the head, leaving sufficient clearance around the hook eye. The lead increases the fly’s load and affects sink rate, while weight at the head may help produce a hook-point-up attitude. Select the size to suit the hook and pattern proportions; the plating reflects light, while the lead body provides the ballast. Before finishing, check that the eyes do not interfere with the hook eye or the surrounding materials.
