Wapsi Finn Raccoon Zonkers
Wapsi Finn Raccoon Zonkers are longitudinally cut hide strips with the hair attached from Finnish raccoon. The longer guard hairs and soft underfur provide a full, mobile material for streamer wings and tails, salmon patterns, pike and bass flies, and saltwater flies.
Construction and use
Prepare the strip by parting the hair at the end and clearing the hide for a clean tie-in. Leave the guard hairs in place for a defined outline, while the soft underfur gives the strip a fuller movement. Secure the tip with thread and brush the fibres into position before adding further materials. Run the strip lengthwise along the shank as a wing, tail or back and secure the hide at carefully chosen points.
