Wapsi Foam Cylinders. Hoppers. 1/16 in Foam is cylindrical foam stock with an exact 1/16-inch diameter; each piece is over 1 inch long. It provides a regular, fine profile for small hopper bodies, extended bodies and segmented fly bodies.
Construction and use
Cut the cylinder to the required length with sharp scissors or a knife, and shape the ends lightly when the pattern calls for it. For an extended body, mark the segment positions and secure the material in stages while keeping thread tension moderate. Use broad thread wraps so the thread does not cut into the foam; a thread base or compatible adhesive may stabilise a joint when the construction requires it. The 1/16-inch diameter suits smaller profiles, while the flotation of a complete fly also depends on its hook, added materials and total weight.
