Wapsi Foam Cylinders. Hoppers. 3/32 in Foam is cylindrical foam stock with an exact 3/32-inch diameter. Each piece is over 1 inch long. This fine-size material is intended for hopper bodies, extended bodies and segmented fly bodies. It can contribute to a buoyant profile, while the flotation of a finished fly also depends on the hook, eyes, dressing and any added weight.

Construction and use

Cut a cylinder to the length required by the hook and pattern, then shape the end if the design calls for it. Secure it with controlled, broad thread wraps so the thread does not cut into the foam. A thread base or a compatible adhesive may help stabilise the component; choose the adhesive with the foam and other materials in mind. For segmentation, bind the cylinder at selected points while keeping its position aligned with the hook shank. The supplied length also allows a tier to reserve material for a longer extended body or trim it for a compact hopper profile.
