Wapsi Fox Fur Patch
Wapsi Fox is soft, mobile fox hair or fur supplied as a patch. It is used for streamer wings, tails and other moving fly components, including Clouser Minnow patterns where the fibres can work freely in the water.
Construction and use
Select a section of suitable length and separate it from shorter fibres; remove some underfur only when a lighter bundle is needed. Tie the hair in by the butts, leaving the tips to work as a wing or tail, or combine it with other materials in a streamer wing. Secure the butts with several thread wraps and, after trimming, shape the transition to the hook shank.
- Material: soft, mobile fox hair.
- Form: a fur or hair patch for cutting strips and bundles.
- Uses: streamers, wings, tails and Clouser Minnow patterns.
- Preparation: sort the length, control the underfur and secure the butts progressively.
