Wapsi Icelandic Streamer Hair
Wapsi Icelandic Streamer Hair is long, loose Icelandic sheep hair selected for flowing streamer wings and larger fly profiles. The fibres form a soft, mobile structure that can be used on its own or combined with other wing materials.
Construction and use
Before tying, separate a small bundle with your fingers and remove tangled or excessively short fibres. Align the tips only as much as the pattern requires, retaining the available length for a fuller profile. Place the bundle on the hook shank, secure the butts with a few loose wraps, and then lock them down with additional turns of thread. Trim the excess butts and cover the cut ends with thread.
- Material: long hair from natural Icelandic sheep wool.
- Form: loose fibres selected into bundles for the pattern.
- Uses: flowing streamer wings and larger fly profiles.
- Technique: finger selection, controlled butt tie-in and a thread-covered base.
