Wapsi Neer Hair
Wapsi Neer Hair consists of very soft, fine synthetic fibres for streamer wings and other slim fly components. Its delicate structure helps create a light, mobile wing without adding unnecessary bulk to the hook shank. The material can be combined with other fibres to build graduated colour, volume and profile.
Construction and use
Because the fibres are supplied loose, separate a small, even bundle before tying. Align the tips, secure the bundle firmly on the shank, and add further layers when a fuller streamer wing is required. The fine, soft texture is also useful for tapering a profile and shaping a flowing tail without making the fly excessively dense.
- Streamer wings: builds light, soft strands with natural movement in the water.
- Layering: lets you create a graduated profile by blending the material with other synthetic fibres.
- Preparation: take a small bundle, align the fibres and secure it with several tight thread wraps.
- Shaping: taper or trim the excess to match the wing and proportions of the fly.
