Wapsi Rabbit Dubbing
Wapsi Rabbit Dubbing is a classic rabbit dubbing with fairly long, soft hair. Its loose fibre structure makes it easy to form a body with a naturally furry surface, while the longer fibres give the finished fly a lively outline without requiring elaborate tying techniques.
Construction and use
It is suited to nymphs, dry flies and streamers, and can be used for either a compact body or a softer, more mobile-looking profile. The longer hair is easy to separate into small portions and distribute along the thread. For a neater finish, trim the fibres after winding; when a more insect-like texture is wanted, tease the body gently with Velcro or a dubbing needle. Work with light pressure so the soft material does not become unnecessarily tight.
- Material: soft rabbit hair with a relatively long fibre length.
- Body effect: a natural, softly furry profile.
- Best suited to: nymphs, dry flies and streamers.
- Handling tip: apply small portions to the thread, then brush the finished body to control the amount of fibre showing.
