Wapsi Rabbit Zonkers Cross Cut
Wapsi Rabbit Zonkers Cross Cut is a rabbit-hide strip with the hair attached, cut across the direction of the hair. This form is intended for wrapping around the hook shank and builds soft, mobile bodies and backs on streamer patterns.
Construction and use
Before tying, even the strip end and remove loose underfur from the tying area. Place the hide side against the shank, secure it with thread, and wrap the strip forward with steady tension. Because the strip is cut across the hair direction, the fibres sweep backward as it is wrapped, allowing adjacent turns to form a continuous, mobile profile.
- Material: rabbit hide with the soft hair retained.
- Cut: crosscut against the hair direction for wrapping.
- Technique: secure the hide with thread and wrap turn by turn.
- Uses: streamer backs, bodies, and wings.
- Patterns: pike, trout, and other large streamer designs.
