Wapsi Sculpin Wool
Wapsi Sculpin Wool is a dense, wool-like tying material for building and shaping compact heads and bodies. It is suited to sculpin and streamer profiles where the form is created by tying in, arranging and then clipping the material.
Construction and use
Select a small tuft for the planned head volume and secure it in stages along the hook shank. Distribute the material around the hook, tighten the thread and add further portions instead of trying to tie in the entire mass at once. After securing it, shape the front, sides and transition into the body with scissors; stray fibres can be evened with tweezers or a dubbing brush.
- Material: dense material with a wool-like texture.
- Form: loose material for tying, shaping and clipping.
- Profiles: compact heads and bodies for sculpin and streamer patterns.
- Technique: layered tying provides control over volume and outline.
