Wapsi SLF Saltwater Dubbing
Wapsi SLF Saltwater Dubbing is a specialised blend for saltwater flies. Its colour selection is aimed at common marine patterns, while the combination of translucent-looking and tough fibres is suited to bodies that need to withstand repeated casting and hard use. It can be shaped into a compact body or expanded into a fuller profile, depending on the pattern and the way it is twisted. Apply small amounts directly to the thread for control, or use a dubbing loop when you want a denser, more fibrous section. Build the shape gradually rather than forcing too much material onto the thread at once.
Construction and use
The range is designed around saltwater colours and works well on marine patterns and baitfish-style flies. A tight spin produces a clean body, while a looser application leaves more fibre available for a broader streamer profile. Once the fly is finished, trim only the stray fibres that disturb the outline; avoid aggressive brushing if you want to preserve the body’s compact construction.
- Intended use: saltwater flies and marine patterns.
- Colour direction: selected colours for saltwater applications.
- Fibre character: translucent-looking and tough fibres.
- Handling tip: add material gradually, either on the thread or in a dubbing loop.
