Wapsi SLF Whitlock Original Dubbing Blends
Wapsi SLF Whitlock Original Dubbing Blends are the dubbing blends designed by Dave Whitlock. What sets this series apart is the use of prepared blends rather than a single all-purpose material: the fibres are combined for controlled body building at the vise. They are suited to tiers who want a ready-made dubbing selection for shaping fly bodies with a deliberate, uneven surface instead of mixing several materials for every pattern.
Construction and use
Use the blends wherever dubbing forms the main body of the fly, including nymphs, wet flies and other patterns that call for a shaped, textured thorax or abdomen. Match the amount to the hook size and build the profile in stages; small additions are easier to control than one bulky pinch. Twist the blend onto the thread for a compact body, or place it in a dubbing loop when you want a fuller texture. A light brushing after tying can separate the fibres without overworking the profile.
- Design: original dubbing blends developed by Dave Whitlock.
- Distinctive feature: prepared fibre combinations for consistent body shaping.
- Applications: nymphs, wet flies and other patterns built around a dubbed body.
- Method: add small portions progressively, using a loop for a fuller result.
